Meet The People Behind Watercolours

Jason has been scuba diving for 25 years. In 1997 he traveled to Australia and began teaching Scuba Diving as a PADI Instructor for various Diving operations along the east coast. Jason completed a tourism staff course under Mr. Tony Fontes for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and helped extensively in safe guarding the fringing reefs.

In 1999 he set up Watercolours Diving Expeditions which specialized in Live-aboard diving trips around the Maltese islands and in 2008, together with Patrick Vella, opened Watercolours Dive Centre which is situated at the water’s edge within the Sliema Aquatic Sports Club in Sliema, Malta.

Jeannot, or “Mr. J“ as he is called by everyone, is a German national that has been living and diving around Malta since 2008. J is a PADI Staff instructor and technical diver and functions as the General Manager of Watercolours Dive Centre. He is also a commercial captain and operates our 8.5m diving rib, taking our clients to some of the best diving spots around the Maltese islands. In addition to being an underwater craze since 1998, he is also a professional underwater photographer who specializes in Ultra Macro photography, capturing images of life on the smallest of scales (less than 10mm). Unbeknown to many, Malta’s crystal clear waters sparkle with macroscopic life at night and rival some of the most pristine diving destinations with their variety of Aliens of the Deep Blue.

Aimee Rose Devoil
PADI Open Water Instructor

Aimee is a British national who has resided in Australia for the past 3 years, working around the Great Barrier Reef. She especially enjoyed diving in Australia, Bali, and the Philippines before joining us in Malta. Prior to her life as a PADI and DDI (Disability) Instructor, Aimee worked as a visual artist in the Film and TV industry until she realized that diving is actually a live fantasy film in its own right. Aimee always wanted to be an astronaut when she was younger, and because of diving she is now one step closer to that dream – weightlessness and discovering new alien lifeforms included.
